Dolphins must of been in the Hudson River during a time where the river seemed safe enough for them to swim in it. Dolphins are very smart and perceptive. They are my favorite animals. This may lead students to pose questions and develop theories by what they already know about the river and about dolphins and what they want to learn more about.

I think this encourages students to develop theories and pose questions by it allows them to think about why is it so surprising that dolphins are in the Hudson and what change that brought them there. This also gives a sense of hope that they can do something in order to improve its pollution.
