Show Changes

I want to finish the first make cycle, which means remixing:

  • setting up logs
  • making a notebook collection
  • 4
    Paragraph 4 changes
commenting on both Youth Voices posts
  • commenting on Youth Voices posts

That's plenty.

I also want the process for designing a make transparent, and I want to invite others to make them.

Title: AI Make Cycle One completed

So I finished AI Make Cycle 1.

This is how I would start my semester with students. These three AI MAKES are how I would introduce teachers to this work of teaching with AI on the multimodal, networked platforms of Youth Voices and NowComment. There is so much more, but these are great places to start. And I would recommend that teachers do these three makes themsleves. Each takes 30 minutes to complete, and by doing them a teacher will have a good idea of where their students might need more (or less) support that we have provided. Also, I've opened up comments on each of these makes. I hope teachers and students will leave their questions and their ideas for extendeing or suplemementing each of these AI Makes. Next questions have to do with how to get others to build makes like this, and/or how can I take a teacher's ideas and build a make out of them? Being able to copy each other's makes is an important technological move, but I'm not sure how to help others -- teachers, first, and eventually students -- create makes for other teachers and students to use. What would a Write Out make cycle look like, for example?

Title: email to Chris

Hi Chris,

I'm of two minds about this, and maybe we could do both?
I think it might have been more generative if I had encouraged you to talk about where AI fits into an argumentative post, instead of asking you to stay on the college essay: https://nowcomment.com/documents/352380?scroll_to=3099961
On the other hand, I'd love to follow through and look at how to get what you want from AI on the college essays ... details and demonstrations of what is possible on AI Mojo is what I'm thinking.
So: do you have an old college essay from one of your former students -- without names -- that we could use to demonstrate this coming Wednesday? I'd like to see what you are planning with the use of the Playground and to propose a couple of other possibilities that might introduce the use of templates and composing on Youth Voices.
Then... I think it would be great if you could expand on the example that you had started with on Wednesday -- writing an argument with AI support/counter-argument, and all.
Do you have an essay we could use for the first part of this?

Title: with and about AI

Quick thought here. I'm wondering if it might be worth writing very specific sentences for each AI MAKE for what we are making or learning with AI and what we are learning about how AI works It's worth a try. .

Title: My first attempt at With and About AI

Still not sure what I think about this explicit pointing--whether it's helpful for the learner or just extra, but I added this to the first AI MAKE: Personalize your profile:

With and About AI

You have made:

  • two text-to-image prompts WITH two different AI Mojo templates.
  • two images based on the generated prompts WITH two different AI image generators

You have learned:

  • ABOUT how AI can combine your brainstormed words (for SUBJECT, BACKGROUND, and STYLE) with the prompt we have saved in the template and shape the results into a well-formed, detailed, useful paragraph that can act as a prompt for image generation.
  • ABOUT how AI Image Generators produce different images based on the prompts they are given and that fine-tuning the language of a prompt changes the image.
