Educational Requirements
To qualify for BCaBA certification, you need to complete the following educational prerequisites:
Bachelor’s Degree The degree does not need to be in a specific field, but coursework in psychology, education, or a related field is beneficial.
Behavior Analysis Coursework : Complete Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst approved The Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) specifies that this coursework must cover the following areas:
Ethical and Professional Conduct
Concepts and Principles of Behavior Analysis Research Methods in Behavior Analysis
Applied Behavior Analysis
Additional coursework specific to behavior-analytic practices
Supervised Experience
There are two types of supervised experience that the BACB recognizes:
Supervised Independent Fieldwork Your supervisor must be a Board Certified Behavior BCABA Analyst (BCBA) or a BCBA-D (doctoral level).
Practicum : This involves 670 hours of supervised experience within a structured, university-based practicum setting.
Intensive Practicum : This requires 500 hours of supervised experience, also within a structured, university-based setting.
The supervision must adhere to BACB guidelines, including frequency and content of supervision sessions.
