Power increasingly in our attention-driven information economy comes to those who grab the public eye or some public’s eye. So being poor in this instance might be attention poor . What is worse is if you are both capital poor and attention poor? An increasingly common condition in our world today.

It took all day to get an answer. And that’s OK because the folks who actually had the power to correct the oversight (which it was) were busy doing other probably more important things. My whole point in this was not to be a jerk. My point was to get my fucking question answered. It was only along the way that became a jerk. I am that dog with that bone. In the end the issue became one of those without the power to attract enough attention to get a timely answer. I was just a virtual participant. I had not paid for a first class ticket so I damned sure wasn’t going to get a warmed hand towel. This is how this works for those on the margins without power. Sometimes they gotta rock the podium. If that makes me a jerk then I am a jerk, But I am a jerk with a reason for being so. I get the feeling I made some folks a little irritated. Sorry. Guess I won’t be getting any damned scholarship to the next institute.
