The theme that help establish the hero myth is love inspires change. Enkidu went from wild being to civilized because of Gilgamesh. Gilgamesh and Enkidu became great friends instead of enemies. Another way the hero myth established by Joseph Campbell works in the Epic Poem “Gilgamesh.” Is through motifs. A motif is basically a pattern. An example of this in Gilgamesh is baptism. Baptism occurs frequently throughout Gilgamesh, showing a sense of renewal or rebirth of some characters.
