I also connected with speaker via Twitter and asked if she had place on line with visuals. She said “no” and “they are in the book”. I appreciate the need to sell the book, but want to engage more people around the issue she focuses on, who won’t buy and read the book.

No one is sneaking around. No one is getting something special. It’s part of the marketing of the book. I would rather have some other kind of preview—a MOOC or a wiki or a shared blog space with RSS aggregation. Or lots of ad hoc popup G+/Periscope stuff.

That is to say, not interaction at all. This is interaction. Lots of little hangouts is interaction. Let us not fool ourselves with the non-connecting connections that academic brings us. The fact of the matter is that I am having a conversation with a addle-pizelated screen hounculus and not you.
I suggested to author that she have some of her grad students use concept maps to outline the ideas in the book. This could be done by anyone else, including students in classrooms of #clmooc and #immooc participants.

If she was authentically provoking us, I would expect to hear catcalls and raucous shoutouts even here. But nay. I will not these provocations as they occur. I am already provoked because our presenter is already just as oblivious as danah boyd was when she was presented and unaware of the twitter feed right next to her.
