To be honest James reading was boring and monotone. It lacked life, it lacked spirit. It took me a lot of effort to even continue listening to his reading.

His tone of voice very clear and nice, but it gets to the point where if he reads with that tone for the whole story, it’s going to be very difficult for people to keep paying attention to what he is reading.
Student Agnes Kaufusi(May 22 2017 12:52PM):
Baldwin just kept pausing which I feel like at some point it was unnecessary because I just think that way.
Student Agnes Kaufusi(May 22 2017 12:56PM):
Baldwin has a straight tone throughout the video. He speaks and pauses mostly the whole time as well. I think that is his pattern in reading this story.
Student Aleah Jefferson(Apr 27 2017 1:37PM):
His voice sounds almost like a robot. He pause after an event or major point in his words. He paces fast but starting off slow.
Aric Black(Apr 27 2017 2:05PM):
The speaker stops in between the parts that focus on the character. This makes the thoughts of the character noticeable.
fatafehi mesui(Apr 26 2017 1:52PM):
The pacing of the speaker is slow and fast at the same time and he pause every sentence and stop for little bit and start speaking in a very fast rate.
Ilda Ortega-Gomez(Apr 28 2017 3:24PM):
The tone of the speaker's voice is plain, he has no life in his words. He rarely has any emphasizing in his words, so in my opinion they have less meaning because they aren't as powerful.
Kenyon McTear(May 02 2017 1:03PM):
I would describe the tone in the speakers voice very calmly but than at some parts he go fast a little bit but his voice is really soft and calmly
Kenyon McTear(May 02 2017 1:08PM):
The volume affect the speakers voice by changing the sense of the setting and the volume sets a calm feel for the audience.
Kenyon McTear(May 02 2017 1:10PM):
The speaker pauses after every time he is done making his point. The speaker speeds up only a little bit and that's only when he is saying big words
Lizet Hernandez(Apr 26 2017 1:31PM):
His tone is calm, serious, and all of a sudden it gets a bit louder. The remainder of the video his tone increases a bit more. It remains calm his tone when and emphasizes when he is saying most of the important parts.
Lizet Hernandez(Apr 26 2017 1:38PM):
His inflection changes while he is reading to the point where it is kind of difficult to understand. His volume impacts himself because he starts to read with feelings and reads faster.
Lizet Hernandez(Apr 26 2017 1:39PM):
His pacing lasts for about 3 seconds and goes on. As he begins a sentence his pacing is clear and his tone rises when he moves on to the next sentence. His pacing gives him a chance to clear himself and change his tone.
Mariah Velez(Apr 29 2017 5:00PM):
I feel like when he was reading, he was doing many faces, and maybe jestures to make sure that he could get a better voice
Mariah Velez(Apr 29 2017 5:03PM):
He pauses in most of the sentences he reads, even when there is a comma in the sentence. He sounds like he questions what the sentence says when he reads a sentence, making it sound believable.
Nuong Vo(Apr 27 2017 11:55AM):
He would do this thing where he would emphasis the last words more. Probably to have the words sink in every time he would read a sentence.
Nuong Vo(Apr 27 2017 11:56AM):
His pacing is also a bit fast when he is reading. It makes sense because when there is a lot of thoughts so its good to go by it quick.
Pablo Lopez(Apr 26 2017 1:54PM):
The speaker's voice emphasizes more when the words like joy not meaning what's the wave of the people. His inflection changes when he explains in detials how the train and the white man who sat next to him.
Roberto Rodriguez(Apr 26 2017 1:41PM):
The tone this speaker has sounds like a much more older man and is sounding like if what he is saying is the last thing you hear before something changes in your life
Roberto Rodriguez(Apr 26 2017 1:43PM):
The volume affects the way his words sound such in a way he can sound like a much older grown man but really be a young adult so volume is a major key for this speaker to draw peoples attention
Roberto Rodriguez(Apr 26 2017 1:45PM):
His pacing is as if it was much practiced for a while he had sped up at times when saying a long sentence in one breathe and slow down once getting to the end of that very long one breathe sentence
Ms. Stasia Tupou(May 23 2017 7:52PM):
The tone of his voice is hard to comprehend because I don't if it's empathy in his voice or he just doesn't care.
Ms. Stasia Tupou(May 23 2017 7:57PM):
His voices rises and makes the audience give into the story because when his voice did rise it sounds like something bad was going to happen .

What I can learn from Baldwin’s reading is to always make sure that I add life to my reading.

James’s tone was low and I really didn’t understand the things he was saying. His volume could of been way better because it was hard to hear him.
