NowComment comments have 3 fields:
1. a “main point” field that’s limited to 255 characters, so readers of heavily commented documents can skim through the comments to see what they do or don’t want to read more of.
2. an optional 2nd field that gives you as much space as desired to elaborate, give examnples, identify tangents, etc.
There’s also an optional tag field (in Advanced Options).

Edward Tufte is a statistician and artist, and Professor Emeritus of Political Science, Statistics, and Computer Science at Yale University. He wrote, designed, and self-published 4 classic books on data visualization. The New York Times described ET as the "Leonardo da Vinci of data," and Bloomberg as the "Galileo of graphics." He is now writing a book/film The Thinking Eye and constructing a 234-acre tree farm and sculpture park in northwest Connecticut, which will show his artworks and remain open space in perpetuity. He founded Graphics Press, ET Modern gallery/studio, and Hogpen Hill Farms LLC.

This is an example of a “Whole Image” comment; it’s not about any particular area of the image.

This is an example of a comment on a particular area of an image (rectangle drawn by the user defines the area). Areas can overlap with each other. Comments on particular areas are segregated from comments on the image as a whole (the same way comments on text sentences are segregated from comments on the paragraph as a whole and from the document as a whole).
