Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and Pulitzer Prize-winning historian David M. Kennedy come together from remarkably different backgrounds, life experiences and points of view to explore the idea of a unifying American creed. Their spirited inquiry frames the stories of a range of citizen-activists striving to realize their own visions of America’s promise across deep divides.

Angel Calixto Angel Calixto (May 06 2019 2:39PM) : Progress & change more

I believe this video right here is a good example of how America can change and progress if we became more accepting of each other, instead of trying to deny each other. Even though the change was a little bumpy at first the change was more accepted, and soon “it became second nature,” as Ms. Rice explains.

Brianna Trujillo Brianna Trujillo (May 29 2019 12:39PM) : Change more

This video is an example of how life progressed over the year, even though it was a little bumpy down the road. The change was still accepted and everything soon became ¨second nature.¨

Student Ikaika Butler Student Ikaika Butler (May 13 2019 1:58PM) : In the video it shares how we change and we progress, and become accepting of it to where it becomes the norm. It talks about the "we" as a standard this means a certain people, not all people. Change makes anew, progress creates the norm. [Edited]

Angel Calixto Angel Calixto (May 06 2019 2:49PM) : "Twoness" more

I think it’s completely baffling that the hyphenation has changed from something that was less socially acceptable, to now being a more socially acceptable thing that people should be proud of. To be seen once as denying the American culture is now a symbol of American pride, as a symbol of unity and acceptance that America was meant to be.

profile_photo

Brianna Trujillo Brianna Trujillo (May 29 2019 12:47PM) : Twoness more

I believe that being an American means navigating the conflict between one´s personal religion, ethnicity, and their American Identity. He believes that Americans can build bridges across differences by reconciling their personal heritage with their American identity.
