Characterization and Questioning

As we read, we should always be asking questions, especially about the characters in a story.

The characters' thoughts and actions drive the plot, and how they learn and change provides clues about the theme.

We should always questions a character's motivation and why he or she have conflict with other charactes. We should ask ourselves why a character is doing what they are doing, and what conflict they have with other characters. This is useful in our own lives, when our friends or family are having problems with one another. What is happening and why?
