Title: Zoom chat recorded during the Zoom conversation on 03/25/2020
From Anna Maine : https://blog.zoom.us/wordpress/2020/03/27/best-practices-for-securing-your-virtual-classroom/
From Anna Maine : How are people "checking in" with students? I've been doing Google Forms and Zoom...
From dawnm : what state are you in Harry?
From Chris Sloan : Email and through our LMS which is Canvas
From Janet Ilko : I have been texting them.
From Janet Ilko : How will you take attendance?
From dawnm : Check in with students -- Google Classroom stream & emails
From Anna Maine : We're getting some kind of specialized form through our grading platform
From Anna Maine : Thank you!
From Shantanu Saha : I do Google Classroom assignments, email, and Zoom meetings. I also do digital office hours, but have had few takers.
From Anna Maine : What about journals or writing prompts? Anything people recommend for HS students?
From dawnm : You all might like this: http://www.pennykittle.net/uploads/images/PDFs/Workshop_Handouts/Dear%20Betsy%20Devos.pdf
From dawnm : plus tech security issues are something to think about
From Harry.Brake : We discussed last night in grad school class, that a lot of data is being shared from Zoom to Facebook and that makes me feel so uneasy with so many younger students being a part of zoom with the loosened rights being given
From Chris Sloan : @Anna I’ll try to share in this chat what a teacher at my school has been doing. Reading and writing about the virus:
From Anna Maine : @Chris thank you
From dawnm : Funding is another school conversation. I think our legislation is having this conversation related to Michigan. I am not sure if they will pay teachers if they stop school. I recognize the economic challenges all around but I do know this is another big conversation point related to what to do.
From Harry.Brake : since is poetry month seen some sites from lit publications combining science, with literature, with writing
