NYC Kids Rise and District 30

Author: Dr. Philip Composto

“Dr. Philip Composto.” NYC Kids RISE Save for College Program, d30pilot.nyckidsrise.org/portfolio-item/dr-philip-composto/.

I am proud to be a part of the @NYCKidsRISE Save for College Program community! Over the past four years, community partners from across Queens have come together to design and pilot a community-building platform for NYC students, families, and neighborhoods. To date, the Save for College Program has enrolled over 13,000 students from 39 NYC public schools in Queens (~95% of all kindergarten, first, second, and third graders), accumulating over $6 million in assets for their educational and economic futures. To learn about the pilot phase of the Save for College Program, and how it can be expanded to build individual and community wealth for generations to come, check out NYC Kids RISE’s newly released videos and briefs (including my own video – click here to watch the video)

Dr. Philip Composto

As the Founding Community Superintendent, Dr. Philip Composto has been instrumental in the design, launch and the growth of the Save for College Program in Community School District 30. His leadership has facilitated Principals, Parent Coordinators, School Secretaries, Teachers, and other school stakeholders at each school–to integrate the platform into their operations to promote their goals around post-secondary readiness, family empowerment, and family-community ties. This partnership in Community School District 30 will serve as a model as the Save for College Program expands into new school districts across New York City.
