Did the students have guidelines or learning targets to follow. I see that they all understand a few things:

1. Explain a selected problem
2. Quote the text or a source
3. Give information from the text.
We could add – define terms.
What they don’t seem to consider is how to organize the information. Some of them go off on tangents.
We will be discussing how to help students to understand expectations.

I see that the student has explained why littering is bad and even gave a quote and an example. I wonder why the student began talking about cutting down trees.

Students seem to enjoy this task. They might develop their writing more fully if they had a chance to use a graphic organizer and share ideas in small groups.
