Why I like fall lends itself to opinion writing. They could still give three reasons and use transitions ( in addition, another thing, finally).
The sequence of events for a narrative might be problem, action or attempt to solve it and outcome with a conclusion showing how they feel about the outcome.

The word chart, flow chart and list of transition words are all great supports for the writing.

Perhaps students could look at a picture of a person in the selected job and describe what they see: where is the person, what tools does he use, what does he wear, what does he do. Then they could add details to their pictures and label them

Did the students explain them orally or do some writing about the contents of the posters?

I can show how we use negative and positive integers to solve real life problems by creating my own word problem.
• I can write a math story that shows gain and loss.
• I can create an equation that solves the problem by using positive and negative integers.
• I can solve the equation by using the integer tool.
• I can check my answer by using my calculator.
• I share my math story with a peer and support the process by answering questions and referring the person to the appropriate section of the integer tool.

The 6C’s of Education are not new skills. They represent a teaching approach in which young people are prepared to thrive in the realities of today’s world.

If you revise them, I’d love to see the original with the new. That’s how we move forward.

I have used SEE: statement, evidence, explanation. I’ve color coded them so that students see the three parts in a graphic organizer and then in the text. Students tend to forget the explanation.

You can definitely create explicit learning targets for math. think of the ones we reviewed in the session:
I can find the GCF by fully factoring the expression.
I can expand expressions using the distributive property to create equivalent expressions.

I wonder if we can brainstorm different ways of assessing this. I remember using a strategy called RAFT to create different assessment options that are student created. I think that would fit this assignment well. Students could make a persuasive video, powerpoint, advertisement, etc.

Students were taught the vocabulary and we did spend time on each aspect of the debate to prepare them for the argumentative essay. Students really enjoyed debating and it gave them a visual/demonstration to prepare them for writing argumentative essays later.

I’d love to see what they come up with.

It is important for students to understand this.
